Volleyball Picks Up First NJAC Win

Union, N.J. (10/7/08) - Freshman Jamie Sacco (Park Ridge, N.J.) led all players with 11 kills and six service aces to lead Kean to a 3-1 (25-19, 13-25, 25-20, 25-19) win over visiting Rutgers-Newark Tuesday evening at Harwood Arena. With the win Kean picks up their first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win of the season to improve to 1-3 and 6-10 overall while the loss drops Rutgers-Newark to 1-16 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Freshman Yesenia Velasquez (North Arlington, N.J.) picked up a match-high 27 assists for the Cougars while libero Mary Aldana (Jersey City, N.J.) tallied a match-high 15 digs. For the Scarlet Raiders, freshman Toni Moppert (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) collected a team-high six kills to go along with six digs while teammate Rosa Anna Beljour (Hackensack, N.J.) had nine digs and three kills in the loss.
