JERSEY CITY, N.J. (9/30/08) - The Kean University volleyball team fell, 3-0, to host New Jersey City University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening. The Gothic Knights (9-4, 4-0 NJAC) extended their NJAC regular season winning streak to 15 straight matches with the straight set (25-12, 25-18, 25-11) victory over the Cougars (5-7, 0-3 NJAC).

For the Cougars, freshman Jamie Sacco (Park Ridge, N.J.) tied for game-high honors with seven kills and nine digs. Classmate Mary Aldana (Jersey City, N.J.) added 11 digs, while rookie Yesenia Velasquez (North Arlington, N.J.) (pictured right) dished out 18 assists.

In the victory, NJCU had a team hitting percentage of .304 with 29 kills and just eight errors, as senior Sarah Torres (Elizabeth, N.J.) led the way with seven kills., while also adding two blocks. Sophomore setter Alex Johanesen (Bridgewater, N.J.) with 27 assists and four service aces.
