Women's Hoops Cruises Past Richard Stockton, 81-54

UNION, N.J. (2/4/09) - Junior guard Cardiss Jackman (Tobyhanna, Pa.) had a game-high 26 points to lead the Kean University women's basketball team to a 81-54 victory over Richard Stockton College in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening. Jackman added six rebounds and five assists for the #17/19 Cougars (18-3, 10-0 NJAC), who remain undefeated in conference play. For the Ospreys (6-15, 2-8 NJAC), freshman center LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin, N.J.) had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cougars scored the first 18 points of the game and held a 22-2 lead before the Ospreys made their first field goal with 11:04 remaining in the first half on a lay-up by Oliver. Kean led by as many as 26 points following a three-point play by sophomore guard Renee Henry (Hackensack, N.J.) (pictured right) before taking a 44-21 lead into halftime.

Junior guard Cardiss Jackman (Tobyhanna, Pa.) paced the Cougars with 12 points, while sophomore forward Tiffany Patrick (Piscataway, N.J.) had nine points and six rebounds in the first half. For the Ospreys, Oliver had eight points and four rebounds.

In the second half, Kean extended the lead to as many as 28 points at 60-32 with 11:57 remaining, before the Ospreys cut the deficit to 20 points with 6:41 left in the game following a 12-4 run. The Cougars answered with a 13-2 run to lead by as many as 31 points en-route to their ninth straight victory.

Henry finished with a career-best 14 points off the bench, hitting 6-of-8 shots from the floor, while also adding four assists and three steals in 26 minutes. Patrick (pictured left) finished with nine points, seven rebounds and a career-best nine steals, as the Cougars made 17 steals as a team.
Senior guard Ebony Jackson (Newark, N.J.) battled foul trouble througout the game, but managed three assists in the first half to give her 600 assists for her career.

Also in double-figures for Richard Stockton, sophomore forward Julia Fagan (New Britain, Conn.) finished with 10 points, while sophomore forward Kristin Sciarrillo (Edison, N.J.) also had 10 rebounds.
