UNION, N.J. (11/12/09) - Senior nose tackle Darryl Jackson (Red Bank, N.J.) has been selected as a member of Team USA for the prestigious 2009 Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) to be played on Saturday, December 19, in Monterrey, Mexico. Formerly known as the Aztec Bowl, Jackson is one of 50 NCAA Division III players selected to represent the United States that will face the Tec Monterrey All-Stars on the Tec de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico.

Jackson becomes the first player in program history to be selected for this game and joins senior running back Jared Chunn (Tinton Falls, N.J.) in an opportunity to showcase his talents in an all-star game at the conclusion of the season. Chunn was chosen to play in the inaugural Division III North South Senior Classic in Salem, Va., on December 5th.

A three-year starter at nose tackle, Jackson has made 35 tackles, including three and a half tackles for a loss of 25 yards and three sacks for a 23-yard loss. This season he has also made three pass break-ups at the line, as the Cougar defense ranks first in the New Jersey Athletic Conference in scoring defense and third in rushing and total defense.

He has played in every game throughout his career, as the Cougars have posted four straight non-losing seasons for the first time in program history, including three seasons with at least seven wins. This season, the Cougars have won eight games, tied for the second most in school history, and face Montclair State University on Saturday, November 14, for the NJAC title and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
