Men's Volleyball Falls to Wentworth Institute

UNION, N.J. (2/4/11) - Sophomore Steve Valhalla had 11 kills and two total blocks, however the Kean University men's volleyball team fell to Wentworth Institute of Technology in straight games on Friday evening.Senior Derek Portugal tallied 11 kills and three total blocks for the Leopards (6-4), as they posted the 25-17, 26-24, 27-25 win in three sets.

For the Cougars (3-5), junior Sam Haimann added eight kills, four assists and six digs, while Naveed Khawaja dished out 27 assists. Rookie Christian Portera posted eight kills, four digs and two assisted blocks.

In the victory, sophomore setter Tyler Moriarty posted 21 assists and a match-high nine digs, while senior Dan Mulvey posted eight kills and only one error in 15 total attacks.

The Cougars travel to New Jersey Institute of Technology on Tuesday, February 8th.
