In the middle of the summer, once you've exhausted all of your crazy parties, beach trips, and picnic ideas, you begin to lose your summer edge and start to fall into the sit-on-the-couch-and-watch-TV mode. This year, instead of depending on your Direct TV for entertainment, depend on Kean University.

It is said that each graduating class has its own personality, and the 2008 undergraduate class of Kean University proved to be no different. They are a group of intelligent young men and women who will go far beyond the boundaries of Kean. On April 25, 2008 they also showed all in attendance at the Senior Formal that they know how to have a good time! The class, led by Senior Class President David Thompson, had a great year filled with excitement and even a few tears.

Many people view college graduation as a time to release the pent-up stress of classes, erase the hundreds of past projects and papers off the computers, and kiss the various buildings where seemingly endless classes were held goodbye. However, the Kean University undergraduate class of 2008 was a little different.

As a result of budget cuts across the State of New Jersey and increased operating costs, Kean University students will face a tuition increase of about 7.9%. At a tuition hearing on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, Kean University Vice President for Administration and Finance, Phil Connelly, explained the need to increase tuition.

May 13, 2008 marked a special day in the lives of the 711 candidates marked for graduation. Donned in black caps and gowns and their appropriate tassels, they ended their journey for Master's and professional degrees at Kean University. For many, this was the end of their formal education and the beginning of their career; for others, it was another notch in their belt, or even a pay raise at work; but for all, it was an experience
that won't soon be forgotten.

When it comes to the various career paths taken by former students of Kean University, the list is long and distinguished. Each passing graduation presses, prints, and casts a fleet of "newly minted" alumni into circulation. Much like the dollar bills and coins lost at sea, the infinitesimal nature of an alumnus's potential course of direction never fails to impress.
