As of the Fall 2011 semester, Kean University Cougar Dollars will be allocated to students enrolled in weekend classes. These classes include sessions starting after 3:30 p.m. on Fridays, and all Saturday and Sunday classes. However, associated laboratories that meet during the weekends are not eligible to receive this purse.
The awarded amounts are as follows: $50 per credit for Friday courses and Saturday courses beginning before 12:30 p.m. Students will receive $100 per credit for any class starting after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
These denominations may be used at the campus bookstore and Kean University food outlets, such as the University Center food court and Starbucks located in the Nancy Thompson Library. Students may not use the Kean Dollars toward other university services such as tuition.
Those whom have any form of tuition waivers are not eligible to receive Cougar Dollars. This includes students with unemployment waivers, graduate assistant waivers, doctoral assistant waivers, senior citizen waivers or National Guard Waivers. Individuals receiving EEO funding do not qualify for the dollar-reward policy.
Cougar Dollars will be awarded after the add/drop periods of the Fall, Spring, and Summer II semesters. The currency will expire one year after the date is awarded. Unused funds may be used from "semester to semester" -- providing the one year expiration has not passed.
