Kean Stage is providing an upcoming event that will sooth and relax the mind, body, and soul -- as well as infuse it with the right amount of vibrant energy just in time for the winter holidays. As the Kean community already knows, Kean Stage has delivered numerous performances that have left the crowd in absolute delight; this performer will do nothing short of that.
One-half of the renowned Marsalis brothers and Grammy award winning saxophonist, Branford Marsalis is due to grace the stage of Enlow Recital Hall, located at East Campus. Marsalis is a fundamental influence in the advancement and growth of jazz in American culture. Some would easily dub him in the Hall of Fame of Jazz, if there was such an entity. He will be joined by long time band member and pianist Joey Calderazzo. Calderazzo is a vastly talented pianist with performance experience with Marsalisas, well as recording and performing his own pieces with his own band. Calderazzo also holds other titles such as producer and composer. Both Marsalis and Calderazzo have released "Songs of Mirth and Melancholy", which is a collaboration of the dynamic duo's talents. They both will be backed by the Branford Marsalis Quartet.
This show will provide many different aspects for the audience to delight from. There may be solo performances by Marsalis and Calderazzo, the duo may perform together, or perhaps integrating the quartet into the performance. The show will be held in Enlow Recital Hall on December 9, 2011 and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can either be bought at the box office or online via
