Accent-(ak'sent) a noun given to voices that comes in multiple colors, accentuating self-expression and diversity.  An accent is a way of pronouncing a language. It is impossible to speak without an accent. Everyone around the world has an accent. At Kean University, the ACCENT's Intercultural  Club makes one feel proud of their accent, and encourages  one to keep speaking without changing it.

"The United States allows everyone to have an accent," said  senior  chemistry major Deliana Arias, and that quote was the main topic for ACCENT Intercultural  Club's event on December 1, 2011. The event was a celebration of the accomplishments of the publications and the club's magazine throughout the years.  President of the Intercultural Club, Jeffrey Moreo states, "All the hard work that we accomplish has made us achieve our goals. The main goal is to read and write English."

ACCENT's  Intercultural  Club is dedicated to encourage non-native speakers to be proud of where they come from and not to feel ashamed of their accent. They encourage the students by giving them the opportunity to publish essays and art work that they feel most proud of.

The  Intercultural  Club would like everyone to know it does not matter where they come from or the accent they have; that  they are all capable of making something great. The Intercultural  Club  vice  president, Rafael Nunez conveys, "we are not a club, we are a family."

ACCENT's event hopes to encourage other students to summit their work to the club. Junior, Daniel Gutierrez,  international  business major, says, "I feel so proud of myself. People can recognize my work through the magazine. I hope the magazine and club carries on for years to come."

The United States is a melting pot full of different nationalities. That is what makes America a diverse country.  The Intercultural  Club  recognizes this fact, and help one feel proud of who they are and where they came from.  Everyone is making a difference in the United States  by being here, yet representing their native country. ACCENT wants to promote the club and  provide students with an opportunity improve their English and to use it outside  the classroom. . The event helps their thoughts and creative abilities both verbally and artistically.
