Police officers are heroes behind the uniform. They convey the theory protect and serve; by putting themselves before others, and taking pride in doing so. They are what make a community safe. At Kean University, a police force is here to defend the campus community. They provide patrol, and respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Members of the Kean community are encouraged to report all crimes -- actual, attempted, or suspected -- as well as other emergency situations.
Campus Police work hard towards organizing seminars that raise community awareness. But does the Kean community know the men behind the uniform?
Adam Fingeroth is a part of the Kean Police Department. His devotion for the Kean community shines through his work. Law Enforcement has always been his passion, and he is the first officer in his immediate family. He has been with the KPD for nearly five years. He states "I joined Kean police because I want to become a police officer and it is a great opportunity to work directly with officers. "
Before joining the KPD he worked as a special law enforcement officer, 1st responder, and a rescue tech/firefighter for Bergen County. He also assisted with the tragic events that happened on September 11, 2001. Fingeroth "wanted to become an officer because I lost a friend of mine in the line of duty. It inspired me to help who I can, it's a great way to have an impact on peoples' lives is to be an officer." His heart is truly there for helping others.
Fingeroth, is also a man of many talents, he has prior training with assisting with hazardous material, the highest level of training for dealing with radioactive material, and training with weapons of mass destruction. His previous expeditions make him a man of many travels -- having been sent to different parts of the country to have him skilled in these different areas.
The Kean community is a great community with a sense of belonging for everyone. The Kean Police Department is here to provide a safe environment for educational excellence. Officer Fingeroth is here to provide just that, to make the students and faculty feel safe; while providing assistance and wellbeing for others. Fingeroth would like the students of Kean to know "success can be achieved by persistence, and hard work."
