Police officers are heroes behind the uniform. They convey the theory protect and serve by putting themselves before others -- protecting the liberty of all community members. The Kean Police Department provides patrol and responds to calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Javier Diaz is a police officer here at Kean University. His devotion to the students at Kean is amazing. Though officer Diaz is new to the force, his service and commitment are remarkable. Diaz immigrated from Cuba in 1999 with his mother leaving behind her architecture job and his father being a doctor. He pursued a job as apart of the custodial staff here at Kean University. While working, he graduated with an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Union County College. After getting his degree, Diaz, worked rounds as a security guard for the university, later becoming part of the police force.
Officer Diaz enjoys working for KPD, stating, "I enjoy the diversity of Kean University." He is the first police officer of his family, and has a 3 year old daughter who admires him. . He enjoys helping others, and being there for those whom need assistance. He would like the students of Kean to know "Learn to get to know people. Be smart, because everything you do has a consequence." KPD is here to provide a safe environment for educational excellence; and officer Diaz does just that -- protecting and serving the community day in and day out.
