Cougars Raise Money in Support of Breast Cancer
Issue date: 2/12/07 Section: Athletics
UNION, N.J. - The Kean University Department of Athletics raised more than $200 in support of breast cancer awareness at the men's and women's basketball doubleheader against The College of New Jersey on January 31.
To show their support, the student-athletes laced pink shoelaces in their sneakers, while the coaches and support staff wore pink shirts or ties in conjunction with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Think Pink initiative to support all coaches in the profession who are battling cancer. All attendees to the games also received pink-handled Kean University tote bags and pink ribbons.
At the game, donations were accepted and all proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
Schools throughout the country and the WBCA have joined together to educate, create awareness and motivate everyone to learn about cancer prevention.
