Ladies! Keep your guard up this Valentine's Day-and every Valentine's Day after this - don't fall subject to the hype. As each V-Day rolls around, most women doll themselves up and expect flowers, a box of chocolates, and maybe even a night out. Even women that are in relationships are subject to the V-Day let down; no one is safe!
"I didn't get you anything for Valentine's Day, because I didn't have any money!" Sound familiar? How many times have you heard this said to you or maybe even one of your female friends? Guys must not realize that there are other ways to shower the girl in their life with love and affection without having to spend more than ten dollars. Or have you heard the line "Why do I need to show you that I love you on one specific day out of the year?" This excuse sounds pretty good, but advise him to save it. Chances are he's not gracing you with extreme love those other 364 days out of the year, right? So why would he make a fuss about Valentine's Day?
Let's cut to the chase, there's nothing wrong with spending time with that special someone on V-Day but let's not lose hope in the male race if he does not come through. Instead of sitting around wondering why he did nothing for you for Valentine's Day; plan your own V-Day. This is called the V-Day back up. Start your day off right by setting the tone for the day. Wear something that says, "I'm single" and not tacky - you're trying to attract attention but not the wrong kind. Make sure wherever you go to keep a smile on your face. You never know where your secret admirer might be lurking and you have to look approachable. Remember this is the V-Day back up. You can still be receptive to going out, but if it does not happen you will still have other plans. Spend your day congratulating the other women you see receiving gifts don't be bitter if you have not received a thing. Also be grateful if someone wishes you a Happy Valentine's Day, at least this lets you know that someone was thinking of you. If you are alone this Valentine's Day take the time to give special gifts to friends and family members to show your appreciation, but also treat yourself. It is better to love yourself on Valentine's Day then to be tricked waiting on love from someone else.
