How to celebrate Valentine's Day solo

The sun rose this morning extra bright, the birds were singing a familiar song, and flowers just seemed to be the perfect shades of red, pink, purple and yellow. To add to the atmosphere, there was a perfect breeze in the air, the one that is cool enough for you to slightly shiver and hug up against someone but warm enough for you to smile and hold hands without any gloves. If you are in love, then this is the beginning of your perfect Valentine's Day, but to the rest of the population, this is not your morning. The sun only came up to shine in your eyes as you try to get that last ten minutes of sleep; the bird was chirping so loud that you wish you had chopped that tree down; the flowers looked wilted and smelled of cheap perfume; and that breeze was nothing but cold air which made you put on your coat and gloves, then to realize that you are warm but still cold, at the very same time.
During the holidays, it is very hard to be single, but during Valentine's Day, it is extremely hard. Everyone around you is in love, holding hands and blowing an obscene amount of kisses to each other. They are even caught whispering "sweet nothings" (you define that as "absolutely nothing") to each other. Do not worry; you do not have to immediately vomit on the couple. Just take your finger out your mouth and walk away slowly. It's not necessarily the end of the world. There are a ton of things you can do to make this day special for you.
The first thing you need is an outfit. Your outfit needs to be a jaw-dropping, neck breaking, eye popping outfit. After you are dressed to the nines, buy yourself some candy and flowers. It might sound corny, but you have to make yourself feel special. If you and a couple of your friends that are going it alone then you guys can exchange gifts amongst each other. The gifts that you choose should not require a partner. The most important thing you need to remember is that you need to go out. If you decide to go out to dinner, then do it up. This is no ordinary day. Make sure everything you do is over the top.
Valentine's Day is usually for lovers, and, technically, you can be in love with yourself. Do not let the red hearts filled cards and teddy bears that sing "I Love You" get you down. Just pick yourself up and get a dress or a nice suit, and go paint the town red. Who knows, maybe you will get lucky and find a date. But if you do not, it is ok because you are still "fly". So as you lay down to sleep finishing off your Valentine's Day, just remember all couples do not last forever but the love you have for yourself is everlasting.
