Kean University offers many attractions for students to get to know one another. In the University Center game room during the fall of 2005, Gabrielle Kidd, junior Psychology major, met her "boo", Markovy Jacques, sophomore Criminal Justice major. Gabrielle recalls, "He would always make jokes to get my attention, but I thought it was annoying, however cute!" Once they began to converse sparks began to fly and they have happily been together ever since. They both agree that "It is harder to have a relationship with someone on campus because everyone is in your business and trying to break you up." However, "You have to ignore what people say and trust each other," says Markovy. This love story makes you appreciate Kean so much more!
Going away to school is a difficult thing to adjust to, but this next couple shows us that having someone to experience it with makes it a lot easier. Timisha Cesar, sophomore Criminal Justice major, met her boo Chase Long, junior History major, during her Pre-Freshman EEO summer program in August 2005. Timisha says, "The Iota's were having an event outside at the basketball courts. It was a nice day out and we were making eye contact the entire time until he finally approached me and the rest is history." They believe that having a relationship with someone on campus is easy because you have someone to motivate, support, and relate to. Some people would say they need more space, but Chase says "we study together, help one another, and make sure we both stay focused." How cute!
This next couple shows us how fate can play a role on campus. Kareem Johnson, junior Special Education major, met his boo Brittany Cottle, junior Earth Science major, their freshman year. Kareem says, "I had a crush on Brittany since we were freshmen." However there was someone else in the picture, but he refused to give up. Fate played on Kareem's side in fall 2006; Brittany was now single which gave Kareem a better chance. When feeling the time was right Kareem made his move on Brittany and they have been "boo-loving" ever since. Brittany says, "It's harder to have a relationship on campus because everyone is always watching, and in your business like it's theirs." However Kareem says that, "You can't listen to the he say she say stuff. Just be true to each other and that's all that matters." Brittany and Kareem are Kean's newest couple but they have a lasting affect that will keep them around for while. Good luck guys!
Being a Kean couple seems like a difficult thing to maintain, however after hearing these stories, others might be motivated to pursue one. Now that we know the story behind all the "boo-loving" we can be less annoyed or jealous and enjoy the fact that our peers found love on campus.
Good luck on your road to becoming a Kean couple!
