On March 20th, at 8pm in the Little Theater the University Activities Board (UAB) held Café La Giveaway. The giving began as soon as students arrived into the theater as they were given really cute UAB back packs, that can be used for books or gym clothes. DJ Poun kept the crowd hype as he played the latest songs that we all love to dance to. The crowd sang along as he played a Bad Boy Entertainment mix with songs like, "Hypnotize" and "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems," by P.Diddy and the late Biggie Smalls. The hosts of the show were Reggie Marc, senior Psychology major, and Tony Olamiju, sophomore Criminal Justice major, who kept the crowd laughing at their hilarious jokes all night.

The show kicked off with a performance by Traffic and Boug from Sleepy Eye Entertainment, who performed an original song. The crowd showed their enjoyment as they sang along to the lyrics, "That's how we do in Jersey." The first prize, a portable DVD player, was given to Bianca Merlos, sophomore International Business major. When her number was called she screamed in excitement as she ran on the stage to collect her prize as the rest of the crowd gasped for air in disappointment.

After another performance from Traffic and Boug, there was a dance battle for a gift card. The two contestants took to the stage, one male and one female, and they battled doing the "chicken noodle soup". The crowd laughed as Brandon Stukes, sophomore Computer Science major, "walked it out" across the stage. However, the female contestant was not proving she wanted to win. Then out of the blue another girl ran onto the stage and did her thing, causing the first contestant to walk off stage. In spite of this, the judges still were not impressed with her, declaring a round two. This time she blew us all away as she jumped into a split and continued "popping" to the beat of the music. The crowd cheered in amazement declaring her the winner of the gift card.

Other prizes that were won were a video Ipod, and a digital camera. There were also Unity Week and Café La Giveaway t-shirts that were given to the audience for free! U.A.B once again showed us a good time, congrats to the e-board for putting together an amazing event adding to the week of Unity Week festivities at KU!
