Kean University is a campus known and celebrated for its' diverse student population, therefore priding itself of different cultures from every continent. The rich mixture of students makes this campus very unique, and this diversity is enhanced even more by the strong student body. There are numerous groups on campus which support diversity, including the Pan African Student Union (PASU), Association of Latin Students (ALAS), Portuguese American Club (PACK), Haitian Students Association (HSA), and International Students Association (ISA), among others.
The International Student Association (ISA) is a funded group that has been on campus for a long period, and over the years, it has grown to be a successful club. One of its goals is to promote student diversity, and to enhance the interaction of different students from different countries and cultures. The organization has managed to reach this goal through the implementation of many events and programs. Some of the past events proudly hosted by ISA include; language workshops comprised of students learning how to speak different languages and Thanksgiving dinners that included foods from different cultures.
This semester, ISA plans to hold a tax workshop to assist students with their taxes with the help of an attorney. The club plans to have an International Game Day, where games from different countries will be made available to entertain students. ISA has also been the host of Culturefest, an annual event consisting of a line up of events which paint a picture of other cultures. The program includes; a fashion show in which models wear outfits from other cultures, a large selection of exotic foods, and music and dancing from other cultures. This is truly an exciting day for many, and this year's culture fest was held on March 22nd in Downs Hall and as always it was a complete success.
The Executive Board contains 5 hardworking individuals who have dedicated their time and effort to see the smooth running of the club. They include: Chioma Sibeudu, president; Chiomaka Ofoma, Public Relations Officer; Eunice Nkhasah, Vice President; Olu Adeuson, Treasurer and Vivian Atonya; Secretary. General club meetings are held every other Monday, at 3:30 p.m. in the University Center room 226A. The club is open to any student. And they are quite receptive to any ideas that can be used to better reach the diverse student population. For information regarding ISA, please contact Chioma Sibeudu at
