On April 24, 2007, 65 of the greatest minds at Kean University got together to celebrate their achievements thus far in their college careers. They were all inducted into the prestigious Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. All of these inductees have displayed commitment to Kean University students by being the role models on campus. They are the presidents of campus organizations, honor students, employees, and just simply student leaders. All of the inductees have to have a minimum 2.5 GPA and have impressive resumes. All of the recipients were nominated by professors and staff on campus who felt these particular students deserved to be acknowledged for their achievements. After all the applications were received a committee of people from campus went through and recommended who should be selected.

The dinner was held in the beautifully decorated Downs Hall, with a selection of delicious food to fill everybody's anxious stomachs. Janice Murray-Laury, Vice President for Student Affairs, welcomed everyone and congratulated everyone who was being honored. As each name was called, the honoree had a brief summary of their accomplishments read out loud as they walked up to accept their award and have their picture taken with Vinton Thompson, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. As the night came to a close all of the honorees were proudly showing off their plaques and asking to have their picture taken next to their college banner. For the students that were graduating, this was a night to revel in their accomplishments, because they were the ones making things happen during their time at Kean. It is now their time to move on and watch someone else take up the reigns and make things happen. For the students that have another year, this was a push to do even more during their final year at Kean. They still had a year to truly make a difference at their soon to be Alma Mater.

Everyone that came out whether it was the honoree, family or friends, or the person who recommended someone it was a night to be proud. Not everyone gets to be selected for Who's Who, so it is something to be proud of. It is a big achievement, not only to be recognized in the Kean University community but in the United States. It is a great honor not many students can say has been bestowed upon them. It is the elite, the ones who have made Kean University not only their school but their home; somewhere they take pride in and want to see get better and better. The students honored are the role models for other students to look to and learn from. These are the students who know how to get things done, so they have very promising futures in front of them. Congratulations to all those who were honored and good luck with your future endeavors.
