Kean University has three different types of students. They are the full-time undergraduate, part-time student, and graduate student. One thing they all have in common other than the obvious Kean connection is that they all have their respective student government. All student governments are there to listen to concerns and try to solve any problems you may have. They are your advocate when it comes to voicing concerns to the administration. All three student governments offer different services to their students, but all share one common goal-to make your college experience the best it can be.
Student Organization of Kean University, Inc. (Student Org). is the full-time undergraduate student government. Their office is located in the University Center room 321. They are here to help all full time undergraduate students. They host activities throughout the year and are concerned with making sure that all undergraduate students enjoy their time here at Kean University. Some activities they support each year are the Homecoming and Unity week concerts, the pep rally for Homecoming and they fund numerous groups on campus in addition to offering scholarships to freshmen and upperclassmen.
Council for Part-Time Students (CPTS) is the part-time undergraduate student government. Their office is also located in the University Center room 340. They are here to make sure all the questions and concerns for part time students get answered and taken care of. They host many activities around campus including weekly coffee hours in Hutchinson Hall. They also take part in the Cougar Care Program for the Kean University cougars at the Turtle Back Zoo.
Graduate Student Government Association (GSGA) is the graduate student government. They are located in the University Center room 332. GSGA is there to make sure that all graduate students receive the education that they strive for. They are here to make sure that the voice of graduate students is heard and that all concerns are brought to the administration. They are involved with many activities throughout the year including open houses, walk-a-thons, and retreats. They also host several workshops aimed at graduate students such as networking and professional development.
Even though all the governments are geared for different groups of students they all have one goal and that is to make sure all students at Kean University have a great educational experience. All the governments have executive boards working hard to make sure every year is better than the last and no one leaves unhappy with their college experience. All three offices have an open door policy with students, so if you have any questions stop by and see the people who are working hard for you!
