Cougar ID cards are distributed to those who are registered students at Kean. ID's are dispersed at no cost to incoming freshmen; however, lost or stolen cards will cost a student ten dollars to replace once they have received their first card. Once a student has registered for their courses, all they need to do is bring a different form of identification to the room located adjacent to the game room in the University Center. Once the student has their picture taken, the ID will take only a few short moments to print out.
Once a student has their Cougar Card they can obtain a library bar-code sticker that goes on the available blank backspace. Library codes allow a student to gain access to all the library media including books, encyclopedias, and reserve films from professors. With the library barcode, students have the ability to check out books and access online databases that would normally cost a student
money for copyright and usage.
Special events scheduled around
campus, such as a concert or dance, require the use of a Cougar
ID. Many events like theatrical performances offer discounted or free tickets to Kean students, and a pre-purchase of any ticket requires a Cougar card. Special events also have a great discount for students. Events like concerts are usually only 5 dollars for students with a Cougar card.
Cougar ID cards are quite important here at Kean, and the faster a student obtains one the better off they will be. For those who desire more information regarding the distribution/obtainment of Cougar ID cards, please call the ID office at (908)737-5157 or visit www.kean.edu.
