The transition back to school after the summer can be a hard one, especially if you had a fun time when school was out, and felt the break was too short. Most of us feel that way even though school is in progress and into its third week. So to help break the I-can't-believe-summer-is-over feeling, Kean University hosts a couple of events aiding in the switch back to school mode, including Lollanobooza just before school starts. The Homecoming weekend is also part of this entourage, and so is the first party of the semester, the Welcome Back Dance.

This year, the party was made possible by the class of 2009, who were very enthusiastic about hosting this social gathering. "Our class is very honored to host the party, and we hope that everyone who came out enjoyed themselves", said Jen Santiago, President of the class of 2009. DJ Wallah was the mix master for the night, and he had the house full of three hundred hot sweaty bodies in a festive frenzy the whole night with his selection of party music. From the hip hop classics, to the lovers slow jams, to the "Crank-That-Soldja Boy" type of music, students were bumping and grinding on the dance floor, all trying to out do each other with their best moves. Greeks were also part of the hype, and became the center of attraction when they strolled on the dance floor.

The party was a great way for freshmen and new students to get together and mingle with each other and upperclassmen, and get to know other students as well. Kean University values the interaction of students and encouraged diversity through scheduling different programs and events. Look out for more fun activities you could be part of, and get ready to meet new people who will make your college years all that and more!
