Music, of all genres, is something none of us can seem to live without. It doesn't matter if you're toting your I-Pod, blasting your favorite CD or local radio station in your car, or getting ready for a day of work and/or classes while listening to a playlist of your favorite songs on your laptop at home or in your dorm room. Music has become a huge part of our lives and it has become apparent it's not going anywhere.
Here at the Cougar's Byte, we wanted to give you (the students) a voice. A chance to let us all know what you're listening to. You know what they say, sharing is caring. So this article is the first of a musicial series, brought to you for your listening pleasure.
So what's in YOUR speakers? What single or album gets the most play on your I-Pod or in your CD player? Allison Cantos, sophomore Early Childhood Education major, said "I like 'No Te Veo' by Jowell y Randy. No Te Veo is a reggaeton song about this guy who is with a girl and the girl suddenly leaves him without telling him. The beat is HOT! When most people think of reggaeton, there is a kind of beat that usually comes to mind. But this song, the bass is so unique. It is different from any reggaeton out right now."
Kelly Duggan, senior Marketing major, said "I am a huge fan of Rock music. My favorite song right now is 'Misery Business' by Paramore. It's about a girl who steals another girl's boyfriend." Joshua Chavanne, freshman Education major, found it hard to pick just one of Lil' Wayne's songs. He said, "I'm feeling Lil' Wayne without a doubt. He IS the best rapper alive! I like everything he does. His music keeps me calm. Music, in general, plays a big role in my life because it helps me to relax."
The music industry has been flooded with a variety of music of all genres that has the Kean community taking notice. And there's no doubt that there's more to come. Stay tuned!
