Despite the cancellation of the homecoming pep rally on Friday October 19, students were still excited about seeing R&B sensation Lloyd perform songs from his latest album. Wilkins Theater opened its doors to a crowd of anxious students waiting in line at 5:00 p.m. One student in particular freshman Clarissa Bumpas and her friends waited in line for three hours just so they could get front row seats. She even had a lineup of questions she wanted us ask Lloyd, such as "Is he single? Is he single? And oh yeah is he single?" The answer to this question, which is sure to be on every young ladies mind in attendance, is YES. Lloyd is single, so you still have a chance at "boo loving" with him.

Before the show began, DJ Wallah had every student in the crowd off their feet, dancing and singing along to the latest club hits. Songs such as "Superman" ,"Spiderman" ,"My Drink and My 2 Step" , "Get Your Eagle On" , and "Get me bodied", had everyone in the crowd dancing, dropping, and pop locking. The freshmen in particular were most hype and kept that energy the entire time. One group of young men, who are friends from EEO and freshman, made up a stroll and showcased in the middle of the aisle. Everyone was asking "What fraternity are they?" But they were just a group of students making fun out of their college experience. Samuel Pierre, Tyrone Woodard, William Pierre, Byron Scott, Brian English, and Mark Smith Jr. had the rest of their fellow freshmen rowed up as they strolled to the beat.

Backstage with Lloyd was very exciting, he had a lot of energy and it flowed very well with the warm atmosphere made up of Student Organization's executive board. Lloyd was very excited to be at Kean and was more than happy to answer any questions. Due to the picture painted by the media of celebrities, it was hard to believe Lloyd is one because he was down to earth and very pleasant. He told us he is Creole and he was born in New Orleans, but raised in Atlanta. Lloyd's talents come from his musically inclined parents. His mother is a vocalist and so is his father who is also a saxophonist, therefore it is no wonder why he is so talented and such a great performer.

Lloyd always had a desire to be a performer, he reflects "I like to make people laugh and be in the spotlight." However we had to ask him what would he be doing if he were not an entertainer, he responds "I would definitely be in college, just another student in the crowd at homecoming." No wonder why he was so excited to be here at KU. Because he is so down to earth, we wanted to know what keeps him grounded he says, "My family and friends keep me grounded as well as my situation and surroundings. This is much bigger than me. I spend Sunday dinner at home with family and friends and I love to bowl." He wouldn't reveal any secrets about his performance, but we got the entire scoop from the front row, when the show started.
