Here some giveaways not requiring a raffle were the Air brushed t-shirts, beaded necklaces and bracelets and spin art, which was a very creative activity taking place during the tailgating. There is nothing like the smell of fresh popcorn, defiantly a lot of nostrils opened when the popcorn machine come out. Let's also talk about how people bones were cracking and muscles were being eased when the massage therapist decided to whip out her orthopedic chair to the public. A lot of young people made mixable waxed candles with great aromas. People were astonished when they saw a professional juggler walking around randomly creating a lot of his eye catching tricks. The kids and adults enjoyed getting their face painted by the facial artist. Most of our very own entire celebrated mascot was out of its cage partying with the crowd getting down with the get down.
A few sweepstakes happened during the tailgating, and the raffle prizes were remarkable. Sweepstakes # 1 was sponsored by The Office of Student Life and Leadership Development and was for all student groups participating in the tailgating. The first place won $500 (NJCSTME), second place won $300 (PASU), and third place won $200 (Nu Delta Pi and Nu Theta Chi).
Sweepstakes # 2, sponsored by The Alumni Association, was for the best display of the homecoming theme. First place won $200 (Rho Theta Tau), second place won $150 (Delta Phi Epsilon), and third place won $100 (Lambda Theta Phi).
Sweepstakes # 3 was sponsored by The Kean University Foundation and was for luck students to win. First prize won a special parking permit allowing them to park in any yellow line spot on campus (Glenn Miller), second place prize was a $300 gift card to Barnes & Noble (Erica Anderson), third place $150 gift card to Barnes & Noble (Ariel Garcia). Congratulations to all of the winners and participants.
Also during this event, we were introduced to this year's Homecoming King and Queen. Our king is none other than senior Communications major with a minor in Psychology, John Scalzo. Our queen, Cheryl Rodriguez is a senior Special Education and Psychology major.
This year's homecoming was so exciting people didn't want to leave; now that's a marvelous accomplishment. Thanks to our President Dr. Farahi's brilliant understanding of knowing how to give back to the student body. For everyone who came out, and those who were absent, see you at next year's tailgating event. The reputation of our homecoming is only getting better and better. From concerts to giveaways, foods, excitement, seeing old friends, receiving cash from raffles, it only gets better! If you did not attend homecoming 2007 then come out in join us as we celebrate for the soon to come Homecoming 2008.
