On September 21st the Meet the Greeks event took place at Harwood Arena from 6 to 10 pm. Meet the Greeks is an annual event for Kean University and is an important time for students who are interested in joining an organization to see what is the right fit for them. This event gives organizations a great opportunity to showcase who they are and what they are all about. Being in a sorority gives women the opportunity to be a part of a sisterhood that can build lifelong friendships, opportunities, and community service. As for the Greek senate, they feel amazed to see how successful Greek life is and how students are interested.

Happening at the beginning of the fall semester, the annual Meet the Greeks event took place at Harwood Arena on September 21. Meet the Greeks is a great opportunity for students to see which sororities/fraternities fit them in the long run. Of the bunch, many fraternities came out to represent their organization, engaging with students who were interested in joining, and also giving insight into who they are and what they have to offer.

Hispanic Heritage Month started September 15th and ends October 15th. During Hispanic Heritage Month, we take time to acknowledge Hispanic culture and the great achievements and successes of popular Hispanic figures. Famous Hispanic figures often include talented vocalists like Selena Quintanilla or Shakira, famous political individuals such as Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, or amazing painters like Pablo Picasso. These influential figures have helped pave the way for the Hispanic Community and shine a positive light on Hispanic culture.

The mental health of Kean students is very important, stress can prevent them from being their best self and can ultimately weigh them down mentally. At Kean University, there are several programs and resources that can assist students with their mental health.

The Fall semester at Kean University is always filled with creativity and joy, Kean Premiere Stages embodies those feelings through their shows. According to Kean’s website, Premiere Stages is dedicated to serving the cultural needs of northern and central New Jersey through the development of high-quality equity theatre performances. Premiere Stages prioritizes their outreach to Kean students and tries to make shows and experiences at the theatre accessible via their pricing.

On Thursday, September 14, the Kean Programming for Unique and Lively Student Experience (P.U.L.S.E.) Board organized the Find Your Match event for all students to attend. The event ran from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Making friends in college is an essential part of the college experience, it is a way to connect with other students from different states and cultural backgrounds. It is also a way to build connections while working towards getting a degree and starting a career. At Kean University, there are ways to make friends on campus such as going into different places on campus, attending events that involve Kean students or just simply going up to someone and striking up a conversation.

Tuesday, September 5, was the start of a new school year for Kean students, faculty and staff. As mentioned by President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. during his opening address, Kean has surpassed the previous years in enrollment by far. With over 17,000 students attending the university, there are a lot of new faces on campus and a lot of new students experiencing Kean for the first time.

On Friday, September 8, Miron Student Center Operations and Event Management hosted a successful Kean Day event from 12 - 4 p.m. Students were in their complimentary “Kean Day” T-shirts as they explored numerous groups and participated in fun activities.

On Tuesday, September 5, Kean University’s Back 2 Basics: Wellbeing BBQ occurred and it was a success. The Miron Student Center patio was filled with students as they socialized and danced to the songs played by the DJ.

On Friday, September 1, Kean University hosted their New Student Experience (NSE) event in the Miron Student Center (MSC). Freshmen students were able to learn more about the resources on campus while networking and making friends as well.

On Saturday, September 2, the Kean football team hosted their first home game of the season against State University of New York (SUNY) Morrisville at the Kean Alumni Stadium. Before the game, the tailgate started at 11 a.m. in the Hardwood Arena parking lot.

On Thursday, August 31, the Kean P.U.L.S.E. Programming Board hosted a Do it Yourself (DIY) Arts Night event. The event took place at the Miron Student Center from 6 -7:30 p.m. As students walked into the student center they were greeted by members of Kean P.U.L.S.E and then went on to participate in the different activities.

On Wednesday, August 30, Kean University hosted the Quad Food Truck Festival, this event was open to all students. From 5 - 7 p.m., long lines surrounded each food truck as students were excited to try the different cuisines.

On Tuesday, August 29, Cougar Volunteers held an event in Miron Student Center, Room 315. From 2 - 4 p.m., students were able to engage in a crafty service project. Students provided positivity for the community as they created candy grams with kind messages to be distributed locally.

On Thursday, August 31, President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D., welcomed Kean University students, staff and faculty with an opening day address at Wilkins Theater. From 10 - 11 a.m., the opening address would cover many topics including the new and improved Keanu, Kean’s energetic and kind cougar mascot.
