Construction will begin shortly for a new building for the College of Business and Public Management at Kean University's Union campus. Expected to be completed in 2020, the building will be state of the art in business education.

Involvement Week lasted from Sept. 18 to Sept. 28 with a bevy of events for students and student groups to participate in. Student groups participated in Involvement Games for the chance to win the following prizes: $500 for first place, $250 for second place and a pizza party for third place.

Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University will be hosting its second Liberty Hall Dance Festival in partnership with Buggé Ballet Saturday, Sept. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. This event consists of professional dance performances that are inspired by significant moments in history and will take place all around the Liberty Hall Museum property.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12 in Harwood Arena, the Greek community gathered for this semester's Meet the Greeks event! This was an opportunity for Kean students who might have been interested in joining the campus Greek community. Over 20 Greek organizations consisting of fraternities and sororities alike, all attended and presented their organizations for students to join.

Kean University's Liberty Hall Museum will be closing its ongoing exhibit, Brothers in Arms: Memories of the Great War and will begin an expansion on the topic with a series of lectures set to begin Thursday, Sept. 27.

Kean Stage's 2018-2019 season will be opening up with Broadway star and Jersey native, Bebe Neuwirth. Neuwirth will be presenting her cabaret act, "Stories with Piano," Sept. 15 and 16 with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Enlow Recital Hall located on East Campus in Hillside, N.J.

Part of Kean University's mission of offering a world-class college experience is the presentation of world-class performances through Kean Stage. Each year, Kean Stage offers a variety of different performances, showcases, and plays of all kinds to bring students and members of the community to Kean to enjoy. These showcases take place around campus in one of Kean's many theatres.

The ultimate goal in attending a university is to attain the skills and certification in a specific field to be used in a full time career. After graduation or during attendance, students want to reach these jobs they have trained for. Career Services provides information on jobs and careers for students and alumni. Their services are offered past graduation as they offer connections to employers directly through Kean University.

Tracking all of your involvement and service hours is key in applying for positions both on and off campus. The Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) is vital in keeping all of your projects and involvement documented. A student's CCT can be used when applying for scholarships, internships, employment or anytime they would want to compliment their resume or academic transcript.

Housed in the Nancy Thompson Library, the Kean University Human Rights Institute is dedicated to supporting and promoting equal rights and anti-discrimination throughout not only Kean University but extends to the world. The institute designs ways to combat human rights atrocities and their causes. It is passionate about the importance of awareness and education for human rights that are being violated all over the world.

Kean University is dedicated to the safety of all students, staff and faculty. On campus there is a fully functioning police department with law enforcement and security services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Located in Downs Hall, the police department maintains a K-9 unit and protects and serves the Kean community following the three values "Integrity. Courage. Respect".

It is important that every Kean University student is safe. The university takes measures to ensure the safety of all students, staff and faculty, one of these measures being the campus safety checklist. The checklist consists of obtaining a student ID card, obtaining or opting out of a parking decal for vehicles and registering for campus alert notifications. These steps each help to add to the individual and group safety of Kean University.

Kean University recognizes over 160 different clubs and organizations. These organizations are separated into the following eight categories: professional, service, cultural, recreational, religious, performance, governmental and special interest. All of the organizations are unique and have strong goals to better their community, themselves or personal skills.

Starting a new year at Kean is a chance for new opportunities and experiences. Kean University offers its students with multiple different versions of involvement such as student employment. Student employment at Kean gives students a chance to gain valuable experience and prepare them for professional environments. Students are able to work alongside their peers as well as professional staff. Depending on the position and department, there are opportunities for students to move up in their department and take on leadership roles.

Thursday, May 3 Kean University Top Knotch, held a day parade to showcase their group and offer students with a fun day on the warm day. Held outside of the Miron Student Center, the Top Knotch Day Parade offered fresh squeezed lemonade, food, popcorn, cotton candy, activities and performances by the KU Dolls. The event was funded by Student Organization.
