The Fall semester at Kean University is always filled with creativity and joy, Kean Premiere Stages embodies those feelings through their shows. According to Kean’s website, Premiere Stages is dedicated to serving the cultural needs of northern and central New Jersey through the development of high-quality equity theatre performances. Premiere Stages prioritizes their outreach to Kean students and tries to make shows and experiences at the theatre accessible via their pricing.

On Tuesday, September 5, Kean University’s Back 2 Basics: Wellbeing BBQ occurred and it was a success. The Miron Student Center patio was filled with students as they socialized and danced to the songs played by the DJ.

On Tuesday, August 29, Cougar Volunteers held an event in Miron Student Center, Room 315. From 2 - 4 p.m., students were able to engage in a crafty service project. Students provided positivity for the community as they created candy grams with kind messages to be distributed locally.

Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman are some of the most mentioned figures in regard to Black history. The legacy of Black innovators is impactful and necessary, so it’s also important to bring awareness to those who don’t get as much coverage in the media or in textbooks.

On Tuesday, January 31, crowds of students came out for Kean University’s Student Involvement and Employment Fair. From 12 to 4 p.m., the chatter and laughs of students could be heard throughout the Mirson Student Center. Kwanzaa is a celebration of culture, tradition and community. Dr. Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa in 1966 to uplift and celebrate Black Americans. In the midst of racial turbulance, Karenga wanted to create a holiday that reaffirmed the excellence of the African American community while informing them about their heritage and the contributions of their ancestors.
