Built in 1772, Liberty Hall Museum is a national historic landmark located here at Kean University. It is situated adjacent to the New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) building on the Union Campus. Originally a 14-room Georgian style house, it has transformed into a 50-room Victorian style mansion.

This past week, beginning Monday, Oct. 8, the Greek Senate and the Northeast Greek Leadership Association (NGLA) hosted Mental Health Awareness Week. The purpose of these events was to raise awareness, erase the stigma surrounding mental health and support those who are suffering.

The One Stop Service Center recently changed location to the first floor of the Maxine & Jack Lane Center for Academic Success (CAS). At this new central location, the staff is more than willing to resolve any student concerns and aid in resolving student issues.

The Love Your Melon (LYM) Campus Crew started at Kean University three years ago with the help of Nicolette Perone, who is now an alumna. She was passionate about the LYM company and thought that the Kean community would be as well. This Kean chapter helps promote the LYM apparel brand and inform people about LYM's company mission of donating a hat to every child in America that has cancer and also donating to cancer research to fight pediatric cancer.

On Tuesday, Sept. 18, the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) held its first convocation in Wilkins Theatre. The purpose of this event was to welcome new and returning students to the CLA and inspire them for this academic year and the remainder of their time at Kean University.

On Friday Sept. 14, Kean Day came to Cougar Walk. This lively event is hosted by the Miron Student Center (MSC) every fall semester and is one of the most popular events throughout the year. It allows student organizations and clubs of all types to present themselves to the student body in a fun and casual way. It gives everyone a chance to learn about all of the organizations that Kean has to offer.

The Kean Gospel Choir was yet again selected as a finalist to compete at McDonald’s Gospelfest. This event is taking place on Saturday, May 12 at Newark Symphony Hall in Newark, NJ, and is a competition between choirs from the New York and New Jersey area. Gospelfest will also feature world renowned singers and musicians such as Vashawn Mitchell, Melba Moore, Leandria Johnson, and Hezekiah Walker.

This past Thursday, May 3, fraternity Nu Delta Pi and sorority Chi Upsilon Sigma teamed up to hold the 5th annual Lupus Ball which is an event to honor and raise awareness for people suffering with lupus.

The annual “Cougars That Care: Kean Day Of Service,” an all-day long community service event, was hosted by the Center For Leadership and Service (CLS) this past Saturday, April 21. The event included volunteering events for Adopt-A-Highway, Adopt-A-Park, Atria Senior Living, Community FoodBank, Breakfast with a Senior and Jumpstart for a Day.
