First Half Surge Pushes Stockton Past Kean, 91-82

UNION, N.J. (1/13/07) - Sophomore Jerome Hubbard (Neptune, N.J.) led Richard Stockton with 21 points, including five treys, as the Ospreys pushed past Kean University, 91-82, in men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Harwood Arena.With the win, Richard Stockton improves to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play, while Kean falls to 10-5 and 2-2 in the NJAC.

Senior Bryan Keller (Piscataway, N.J.) had a game-high 25 points in the loss for the Cougars.

The Ospreys sprinted out of the gate and surged to a 19-5 lead in the first eight minutes of action. Junior Mario Lancioni (Runnemede, N.J.) initiated the run at 16:06 as he broke a 5-5 tie with a fast-break layup. Stockton went on to connect for 11 straight points over the next three and a half minutes to give them a 19-5 led at 12:25. Lancioni contributed seven points in the run that was finally broken by Keller with his own fast-break layup at 11:52.

Stockton held on to an 14 point average lead until their second surge propelled them ahead by 26 after a 16-0 run. Hubbard drilled one of his five three-pointers at 7:50 and over the next three minutes connected with three other Ospreys to give them their largest lead of the half.

Hubbard led all players at the break with 14 points, including four treys. Jordon Krzeczkowski (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) and Derrick Williams (Atlantic City, N.J.) also finished with double-digits with 11 and 10 respectively. Keller led the Cougars with 11 points.

The Cougars outscored the Ospreys 50-34 in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Richard Stockton held on for the nine point win.

Williams finished with 19 points while junior Jon Greene (Wildwood, N.J.) recorded 15 points and nine rebounds. Krzeczkowski rounded out the double-digit totals with 11.

Junior Lamar Wright (Galloway, N.J.) registered 15 points, while senior Bryan Miller (Trenton, N.J.) finished with 10 in the loss.

Kean will square off against the College of Staten Island in non-conference action on Monday, January 15 at 2 p.m. here at Harwood Arena.
