Cougars Sweep Past Rutgers-Camden in NJAC Volleyball Action

Camden, N.J. (10/09/07) - Freshman outside hitter Kate Niemiera (Vernon, N.J.) collected 10 kills in her first intercollegiate game to lead the Kean University volleyball team to a straight-game victory (30-16, 30-21, 30-25) over host Rutgers-Camden in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening. As a team, Kean (6-13, 2-4 NJAC) recorded 18 service aces, as sophomore Caitlin Gibbons (Ringwood, N.J.) had five and senior outside hitter Alicja Ciastoch (Teaneck, N.J.) added four.

In the victory, freshman Nicole Bolash (Clinton, N.J.) had a team-high nine digs to go alongwith four kills and three aces, while Ciastoch had seven digs and two kills.

For the Lady Raptors (0-19, 0-5 NJAC), sophomore middle blocker Marci Polite (Cherry Hill, N.J.)) notched eight kills and eight digs, while sophomore outside hitter Ebony Childers (Stratford, N.J.) had three kills, six digs, one solo block and one assisted block.

The Cougars return to action on Thursday evening when they host NJAC leader New Jersey City University at 7 p.m.
