UNION, N.J. (10/18/08) - Junior Nicolette Maggio (Tenafly, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal with less than 10 minutes remaining to lift the Kean University women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Rutgers-Newark on Saturday evening. Playing down a man for a majority of the second half, Rutgers-Newark tied the game on a penalty kick by freshman Julia Caseres (Union, N.J.) in the 70th minute.
The Cougars held a 21-5 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Scarlet Raider goalkeeper Kat Renteria (North Bergen, N.J.) made eight saves, while sophomore Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.) stopped three shots in the victory for Kean.
