Football Earns ECAC Bid

Centerville, Mass. (11/15/09) - For the third time in four years and the fifth time in school history, the Kean University football team has been invited to an Eastern College Athletic Conference Bowl Championship after finishing the regular season with an 8-2 overall record. The Cougars will host Ursinus College on Saturday, November 21st at noon in the Southeast Bowl Championship. In 2008, KU fell to Delaware Valley College, 16-7, in the South Atlantic Bowl Championship.

In 2006, the Cougars defeated King's College, 37-0, in the ECAC Southeast Bowl Championship to win just the second ECAC title in program history. The only other ECAC title for the Cougars was in 1994, when Kean defeated Frostburg State University, 41-7, to win the ECAC South Championship.

Kean also earned a bid to an ECAC bowl in 1987, where the Cougars fell to Franklin & Marshall, 21-0, in the program's first ever post-season appearance.
