UNION, N.J. (12/1/09) - Kean University women's basketball Head Coach Michele Sharp has been named the Women's DIII News Coach of the Month for November 2009, after the Cougars opened the season 3-1. Kean's only loss came at the hands of NCAA Division I Rutgers University on November 17, as the Cougars fell to the host Scarlet Raiders, 85,49, in the season opener. The Cougars held a 17-13 lead after just seven minutes of play, before the Division I school took the lead for good.
The Cougars rebounded with three straight wins to close out the month and head into New Jersey Athletic Conference play, where the Cougars were selected as the preseason favorite to win their third title in the last four seasons.

Kean defeated Husson University, 82-49, in the opener of the Cougar Classic and knocked off Ithaca College, 65-52, in the championship game. The Cougars also handled John Jay College, 104-30, as 16 different players scored points.
