UNION, N.J. (4/14/10) - Freshman Lyndsey Cannon netted six goals and added two assists to lead the Kean University women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 win over SUNY Maritime College in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Amanda South added four goals and an assist for the Cougars (5-7, 3-2 Skyline), while senior goalkeeper Meagan Golden made eight saves for the Privateers (1-8, 0-4 Skyline).
Cannon netted three of the Cougars' first four goals, as Kean scored the first six goals of the game behind three goals and two assists from Cannon and two goals and one assist from South. Maritime trimmed the Cougar lead to 6-2 after a pair of goals from sophomore midfielder Kristen Saporito, before Cannon answered to give the Cougars the 7-2 lead with 11:15 left in the first half.
Maritime sophomore Catherine Brady cut the deficit to four goals again, however the Cougars scored the final two goals of the first half for the 9-3 lead at the break.
Brady scored the first goal of the second half for the Privateers, before the Cougars scored the final 10 goals of the game to score a season-high 19 goals in a game for the fourth time this season.
Cannon added three draw controls and two groundballs, while South had three caused turnovers and two groundballs.
Senior Julie Bachovchin, sophomore Katy Bednarz and freshman Jessica Hergert each added two goals for the Cougars.
The Cougars traveled to The Sage Colleges for a Skyline Conference match on Saturday, April 17, at 1 p.m.
