UNION, N.J. (1/25/11) - In the first home men's volleyball match at Kean University, the Cougars defeated City College of New York, 3-1, in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening in Harwood Arena. The Cougars (2-3) captured the first two games, before closing out the first home win in program history in four games (25-15, 25-9, 25-27, 25-12).

Sophomore outside hitter Steve Vahalla tallied a match-high 19 kills and 12 digs, while rookie Christian Portera added 13 kills and five assisted blocks. Freshman Naveed Khawaja dished out 34 assists and junior Sam Haimann (pictured left) added eight kills and 10 digs in the victory.

For the Beavers, sophomore Matthew Ng had a team-high six kills, while sophomore setter Xihe Xie added 17 assists and five digs.
