As the end of the academic school year is quickly approaching, students are beginning to plan ahead for long-awaited trips and getaways. Summer break is on its way for Kean University and there are so many inexpensive hotspots and getaway places for college students to enjoy their time off at. There is a wide variety of activities varying from beaches to plays to museums etc for reasonable priced prices.

In the summer, many people enjoy going to theme parks and water parks. Many parks have a water park and an amusement park. Several of these places offer special price deals for individuals as well as their families. These parks include Mountain Creek, Six Flags, Dorney

New Jersey is also very popular for their beaches and shore area. In southern New Jersey, several beaches can be found with a lot to do. The boardwalk has many attractions to offer including arcades, restaurant and shops. To save money and gas, students can always go to the park and have a small picnic with their friends or loved ones.

Mini Golf is also loved by many. New Jersey has 53 mini golf courses to choose from. The golf courses also vary in theme. Depending what mini golf course is chosen, the theme may be a fun glow in the dark experience, to a graphic 3-D adventure. For artistic and creative people, New Jersey has many places to express your originality. There are pottery studios all over the state, a glass blowing studio that is located in Asbury Park, and even a jewelry making studio located in Westfield.

Instead of flying that will cost a lot of money, look for places that can be driven to. Driving or utilizing mass transportation saves a great amount of money and there is more time to sight see or take a road trip. Students may also enjoy the adventures New York City has to offer, where there is so much to do and is only a train ride away. In New York, there is many museums, shops, restaurants, Broadway shows and other attractions to visit.

Also, Washington D.C in Maryland and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania are also popular locations. The city holds the oldest United States penitentiary. The Eastern State Penitentiary is not only a tourist attraction for most but it is said to be haunted. It even has been visited by the Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures." The Eastern State Penitentiary holds a tour which is guided by an expert for a one-hour tour of the penitentiary complex. The tour includes the cellblocks, center surveillance hub, Al Capone's Cell, and even Death Row. The area also offers many restaurants to grab lunch or dinner and shops.
