Kean Ocean holds trip to Gettysburg Battlefield and the Haunted Orphanage

A Haunted History
Megan Lovelace

History has marked the Battle of Gettysburg as one of the turning points in the Civil War. The battle was the bloodiest of the war as over 45,000 brave soldiers lost their lives. The battle was so significant that it inspired President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address at the dedication ceremony.

The grounds of Gettysburg are said to be haunted by the soldiers who had lost their lives there. They are said to walk around aimlessly trying to find their way home, although one may not care to think what happened to the families of these lost souls. Nearby, an orphanage housed the children whose fathers lost their lives at battle. This orphanage is said to be haunted as well and guests are now able to tour this haunted attraction.

Kean Ocean will be holding a trip to experience a tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield, and the Haunted Orphanage on Saturday, November 2, 2013. The bus will be leaving at 7:30 a.m. from Ocean County College parking lot number two, and returning at 10:00 p.m.  The cost is $5 per ticket, and two tickets per Kean ID. The tickets are available at the office of student government in the Gateway Building room 213 located on the Kean Ocean campus.

It is asked that all who attend please print the Student Activity Participation Agreement and bring the packet at the time of purchase. The packet can be found out https://kean.collegiatelink.net/organization/stuorgdocumentlibrary. Everyone in the Kean community is invited to experience this haunted history.
