On Tuesday, April 1, 2014, an enormous collection of Kean University students gathered in front of the University Center (UC

The event was created in hopes to unite students and raise awareness for SO's upcoming Relay for Life on Sunday, April 27, 2014. According to RelayForLife.org, the nationwide event is a community based fundraising event of the American Cancer Society, The Kean Block Party's main attraction was the spray painting stand -where students received a free shirt and got it spray painted. While students stood at the stand, representatives of SO were handing out flyers and informing students of Relay for Life. .

In addition to the components that SO contributed, several other organizations on campus contributed stands as well. The Student Government had a stand giving out t-shirts and bracelets which read "We are the voice of the student body." The organization was doing this in attempts to raise awareness of Student Government and get more students involved. The Student Government differs from SO in that it focuses more on serving students and making sure the body as a whole is being well-represented. Students from the sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha, also had a stand where they gave out mock-tails and promoted their community service events on campus. Students that attended the event were there for a variety of reasons. Some were walking back to the dorms from class and witnessed first-hand all of the excitement happening, others heard the music and decided to see what was happening, and some just thought it would be the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful weather.
