Pure Adoration

Is it May 2014 already? If I was told in Fall 2009 that I would be graduating with a degree in English Writing, I would have given that person the most baffled look. At that time I had dreams of pursuing a degree in journalism, with the hopes of one day becoming a traveling reporter and later on in my career, managing my own publications.

When I came into Kean, I was expecting my life to be very flexible and carefree: commute to Kean, attend all my classes for the day, and go back home to relax. Although I wasn't IN love with Kean at the time, I came to the realization that I needed a job that would give me the experience in the area that I wanted to -someday- work in.  I was given the choice of selecting one out of two publications on-campus and -I trust my instinct- so I chose The Cougar's Byte.

These past 5 years have been somber, joyful, turbulent and so much more. From running to cover last minute events, taking pictures around campus, quoting the diverse population of Kean University, to editing articles and adding them to the online edition, managing the C-byte staff while configuring and designing the print edition with the Creative Arts staff, I believe that I had my fair share of experiences. I met many influential people who entered and left the C-byte. I made mistakes and learned from them and most importantly, I was able to grow as a professional and as a person.

C-Byte has shown me that regardless of what the task may be, you HAVE to put your heart into it -devote yourself to whatever it is that you're doing. You have to be genuine in order for your accomplishments to shine oh so bright; don't think about how much of your time you have to invest in it or the things that you could be doing. What matters is how much effort you put into your work and due to that effort, you'll be rewarded with many smiles; that's what matters.

Overall, C-byte became my "home away from home", my cub who doesn't bite me, my second child -my first being my chapter, Delta QuanyxofLambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc.

Thank you for all those who gave me advice guided and helped me, and most importantly my old and new team of the C-Byte, Creative Arts, and Creative Media -I will miss you dearly! PERO(insider), Its.Been.Real.
