Get Ready To Party

With the new semester just starting, many students may wonder what is going on in and around campus. Like numerous other organizations and clubs on campus, Student Organization has been busy planning a variety of events for students to enjoy throughout the semester, which is just another reminder that although education is important, so is the act of relaxation.

To start the semester off, the Student Organization Freshman Class of 2018 is coming in strong with an on-campus party. Gerard Smithwrick, president of Student Organization, informs that the party, “Cougars Gone Wild: Rave Party,” will be held on Friday, January 30 between the times of 9:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. in Downs Hall. Tickets are already on sale and the cost is one dollar for every Kean University student that presents a valid Kean University student identification [ID] card.  Simthwrick continues to inform that the Student Organization will be handing out giveaways and, as always at an event, there will be music.

On Friday, February 6, the Student Organization, along with the Kean University Graduate and Part-time Student Council, will be hosting a concert in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and Black History Month. “For The Love Of Music: Valentine’s Day/ Black History Month concert” will start at 8:00 p.m. with the doors opening at 7:00 p.m.. “The artist[s] being featured are Music Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, and Chrisette Michele,” informs Smithwrick, “there will also be raffles for Kean University students to win a [dinner] with a  guest at Ursino,” the “farm-to-table” restaurant that is pocketed underneath the Science Technology and Mathematics [STEM] building located at 1075 Morris Avenue. Students can buy two tickets per every valid Kean University student ID at a price of $20 until January 28. After January 28, the price will go up to $25 each.

To end the year off with a great finish, especially for graduating seniors, the Student Organization Senior Class of 2015 will be hosting a senior formal on Friday, May 1. The formal will be themed “The Great Gatsby,” and will be held at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel in Parsippany, New Jersey. Smithwrick informs that “only graduating seniors are eligible to purchase tickets for the formal,” but graduating seniors are also allowed to bring a guest that is not a graduating senior. There will be hotel rooms for sell at a discounted price for Kean University students. More information about purchasing a hotel room will be coming soon, so be on the lookout.

Make sure to reserve a spot as soon as possible for these events, especially since a few of them are just days away.
