Ciao! The Italian Cultural Experience (I.C.E.) gives students the opportunity to explore the Italian culture without leaving campus.

I.C.E. is the official and first Italian club at Kean University. The primary goal of I.C.E. is to promote the Italian language and cultural understanding among the students of Kean University by increasing the community’s awareness of I.C.E. “This club helps to promote not only what Italian Culture is about, but it also helps to promotes a strong bond between students on campus,” said Andrea Mechetti, sophomore psychology with an occupational therapy track major and director of public relations for I.C.E.

I.C.E. intends to create a welcoming environment for every Kean University student who seeks a social support network for people with the common interest of Italian culture. “We hope to promote a community at Kean [University] based on similar interests, these interests being community service and the Italian culture,” said Nicholas Brown, sophomore business management major and president of I.C.E.

Whenever a community service opportunity arrives I.C.E. likes to get their members together and participate in giving back to the community. On Saturday, April 11, 2015, I.C.E. visited the Children’s Specialized Hospital. They helped clean up the playground of the hospital so the children could play at ease. “It was a great experience,” said Mechetti and they hope to do it again.

Along with more volunteer opportunities, I.C.E. is hoping to accomplish an Italian Ice Day at Kean University in May in an effort to spread awareness about the club. Feel free to join I.C.E. for their last meeting on May 7, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. in the Center for Academic Success (CAS) where they will be wrapping up the semester with refreshments and discussing goals for next year.
