On Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the Otaku Anime Society (OAS) will be hosting their first and soon-to-be annual TowerCon to commemorate their 15 year anniversary.

TowerCon will take place throughout several places in the University Center (UC), including the atrium, the Little Theater, room 226, and the patio. This mini-convention will give students a chance to experience everything one would experience at a regular anime convention: tabling, panelists, an artist alley, a Magic the Gathering tournament—gamers must bring their own card deck—and guest speakers.

OAS is fortunate enough to have a very special guest at this event—Mike Pollock. Pollock is a reputable voice actor, most notable for his role as Doctor Eggman in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. Other popular roles include various voices on Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. 

Every year, individuals everywhere make the pilgrimage to large conventions such as Comic Con and AnimeNEXT. Attendees prepare for months in advance, perfecting their cosplays, props, and patiently awaiting the news as to what artists and speakers will be paneling at the convention. Let’s face it, anime fans are some of the most devoted and passionate people on this planet and that’s why Kean University’s very own anime club has decided to bring the convention culture to campus.
