Na-Young Baek will play Russian favorites alongside many other talented musicians

On Thursday, October 8, 2015, starting at 7:30 p.m., join gifted cellist Na-Young Baek as she plays Russian music. She will be accompanied by pianists Amy Young and Adrienne Kim, violist Maurycy Banaszek, violinists Victoria Stewart and Eric Wyrick and director Anthony Scelba.

Baek started her career off of by paving a new road in history. She is an awarded Korean cellist, winning her first competition at the age of 15. She won one of the most prestigious competitions in Korea, Choong Ang Times. By winning this award Baek became widely known as the youngest winner of this competition in history. 

Not only that but she was the first to be awarded the “Virtuoso Prize” at the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians.  She has won several awards and competitions after that, including the Gyeongnam International Competition, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Competition, the International Cello Congress and more.

Because of her talent she was accepted to study with one of the top cello teachers in Philadelphia, Orlando Cole. Baek later continued her studies at Yale University to receive her master’s degree and received her Artist Diploma at Juilliard. She then finished her studies at Stony Brook University and received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Baek is currently a member of several orchestras, including the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Sejong Soloists and the East Coast Chamber Orchestra.
