Staying connected just got easier than ever

Ever walk by a plasma screen television, in the Miron Student Center (MSC) or Hutchinson Hall, but didn’t have time to stop and actually read it? Well staying connected just got a whole lot easier.

After considering the feedback from students on campus, Student Organization and graduate part-time student council has decided to implement plasma screens on trolleys and shuttles.

“This idea is credited to a former Student Government creative media and design manager, William Diggs. He thought about the idea from seeing digital ads on trains/subways. We then took the idea and ran with it,” said Chazz Fellenz, president of graduate part-time student council.

These plasma screens are meant to provide students with upcoming events and news happening on campus. Information from financial aid, scholarship services, student accounting and health services will also be displayed on the screen.

“In any given academic day, there may be a few 100 students being transported back and forth to classes. During this time you can be sitting or standing for five or more minutes. This is a perfect time for students who have nothing to do and are stuck in one spot to see the amazing things this campus has to offer,” said Fellenez.

The first test screen has been installed and will officially be released to the campus on Friday, October 30, 2015. More screens will be added as time goes on. This project is estimated to be completed after winter beak, by January of 2016.

“We decided to try and improve our communication and promoting skills … We hope this will be a huge success,” said Fellenez.
