Get ready to party like there is no tomorrow. Last year’s homecoming had a theme of All Roads Lead To Kean, a theme that was greatly liked. This year is about vibrant colors and going exotic because Kean University is going to celebrate homecoming in the style of Carnival Rio

Homecoming will be from 6 p.m. on Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25.

To get the homecoming spirit going, Latino pop star Prince Royce will be performing at Kean University on Thursday, October 22. But homecoming really kicks in on Friday, October 23, with a pep rally in Harwood Arena at 6 p.m. There will be many performances made by different organizations and groups, such as Kean University athletic teams. To help the school spirit continue, the Greek Senate will be hosting a Carnival Rio themed party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Downs Hall, following the pep rally.

Alumni can join in on the festivities, too. Any alumni who were a part of a Greek organization can attend the Greek Alumni Reunion which will be located in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Building starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, October 24, the party continues with the start of the women’s lacrosse alumnae at 10 a.m., as well as the Student Tailgate. The Student Tailgate allows many student organizations to create a themed table and compete against other tables to see who has the best display.

Student Tailgate will be held at the parking lot of Harwood Arena. But the one thing that many people will be waiting for is the football game, which will be held at Alumni Stadium at 1 p.m.

Throughout the day attendees will be able to enjoy games and delicious food at the visitor’s parking lot right across from the Harwood Arena parking lot. Make sure to arrive early as the tickets needed to receive food and play games will not be valid after 12:30 p.m. Like last year, there will be a performance at the visitor’s parking lot and Stella Maher, who is the director of alumni relations, comments that they “are working on Samba dancers who will perform and teach dance to Brazilian music.” And at 1 p.m. The Kean University Cougars football team will be going against Salisbury University. Homecoming Weekend will end on Sunday, October 25, with the 1965 Class 50-year reunion.

For a more detailed schedule of homecoming, please visit the Kean alumni webpage. For any alumni who wish to attend please visit the Kean alumni webpage to register and, if one would like, give a generous donation. No one should miss this great experience as it is a once in a lifetime event!
