Kean University music majors have joined forces with Roselle Park elementary students and special needs adults for a musical concert entitled, “We’re All in this Together!” The performance will be on Thursday, January 7, 2016, in Wilkins Theatre; starting at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public. Songs will include selections from Broadway plays like “Les Miserables,” “Shrek the Musical” and “Sesussical.” The Kean University Percussion Ensemble will be on hand, which results in a total of about 200 people on stage for the concert’s finale.

Ninety-six Roselle Park students, 35 Kean University music majors (and alumni) and 25 special needs adults from Community Access Unlimited will perform together to make this concert possible. Community Access Unlimited is an organization that provided support services to adult and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Lynann Schraer-Joiner, music education professor at Kean University, organized the event with Linda Green, Roselle Park Choir Director and Marguerite Modero, director of Union County’s Community Access Unlimited Adult Continuing Education Program.

“Music is a great connector, a great unifier,” Schraer-Joiner said in a statement. “The whole purpose is to bring awareness to adults with special needs who have aged-out of the school system.”

This concert is sure to be a concert for the whole family to enjoy. Wilkins Theatre is located on Kean University’s main campus; at 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, New Jersey. If you have any further questions feel free to contact the Wilkins Theatre box office, by phone, at (908)-737-7469.
