On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, the Military Ball will take place in Downs Hall from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The ball is held to show sincere appreciation and support of veterans and members currently serving the country and is orchestrated by the Gold and Silver levels of the Leadership Institute.

The following day, Leadership Institute will host the Boot Camp for a Cause event on Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in which students can participate in activities that are fun, challenging and engaging. There are countless ways to help the country’s veterans and active duty members. The VA Hospital offers services such as primary care, rehabilitation programs, cancer centers, education opportunities, research and more. Students are invited to encourage veterans they may know to utilize the services of the VA Hospital and other organizations designed to help them. Often times, the return home comes with some of the hardest battles to face and it is the job of individuals to help them make the transition into civilian life.

During the week of April 4, 2016, to April 8, 2016, the Leadership Institute will be having its Leadership Week by hosting different events, workshops, tabling sessions and more to encourage students to be great leaders in the community and also bring awareness to its cause, military veterans. This is sure to be a remarkable week, with events for all students to participate in.

It is extremely important to donate to organizations helping veterans so that the programs can continue to run and support those receiving help. Also, so students can do some small acts such as letter writing, care packages, sharing their stories, utilizing veteran businesses and so on. Most importantly, please say “thank you” to these brave individuals who keep citizens safe.

Tickets for the Military Ball will cost Kean University students $6, non-Kean University students and outside guests $8 and veterans and active duty members in uniform can attend for free. All proceeds are being donated to the VA Hospital located in East Orange.

If there are any questions about the event please email the Leadership Institute at leadershipinstitute@kean.edu, visit room 215 in Miron Student Center (MSC) or call the office at 908-737-5182.
