One of the major staples of the spring semester at Kean University is The Greek Senate’s Kean Dance Marathon (KDM). Every year, the campus community reports to Downs Hall to dance, play games and raise money for the Children’s Specialized Hospital. This year, KDM will be on Friday, April 15, 2016, from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.

“The Kean Dance Marathon is not only an opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life, but also a great time to share with other Kean [University] students,” said Jordan Cahill, Greek Life Specialist and senior fine arts major.

To create a team or register as an individual dancer for KDM, visit keandm.kintera.org and click “dancer registration”. Here, one can also join a preexisting team or make a general donation to the cause. This year’s goal is set to $30,000 and is already half way there.

Last year, the Kean community came together to raise over $25,500 for the Children Specialized Hospital in Mountainside. The Children’s Specialized Hospital is the nation’s leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care for children from birth to 21 years old facing unique health challenges. There are thirteen different locations in the state of New Jersey and each hospital helps hundreds of “miracle children” every day. This year’s miracle child is a young girl by the name of Taryn, who does not let cerebral palsy stop her from accomplishing amazing things.
