The Kean University shuttle service allows students and faculty to travel easily and effectively throughout campus.

Germain Palacios

The burden of commuting is all too common among college students. Finding an efficient way to commute can be a real hassle, but thanks to the shuttle and trolley service offered to members of the Kean community, students can put their energy towards studies, volunteer service, athletics or any of the other extracurricular activities offered at Kean University.

The Kean University shuttle service operates buses and trolleys which are both handicap accessible. The shuttle service helps students commute to and from classes by making numerous stops throughout the campuses of Kean University. Stops are made at the following locations:

  • Kean Hall Parking Lot (closest to Green Lane)
  • Hennings Hall (by the flag pole)
  • Wilkins Theatre
  • Liberty Hall Campus
  • STEM Parking Lot
  • East Campus Parking Lot A,B & C

During the fall and spring semesters, the shuttle service is active Monday through Saturday. Services are available Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., and Saturdays from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. There is no shuttle service on Sundays.

During the Summer I and II sessions, the shuttle service operates Monday through Thursday from 7:15 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., and from 7:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Fridays. There is no shuttle service on Saturdays and Sundays, but drivers will be provided by special request only.

Pleases note that shuttle buses and trolleys operate on a rotating basis, and routes are subject to change. New routes will go into effect following the opening of the North Avenue Academic Building (NAAB) this September 2016.

For special requests or more information on schedules and routes, please contact the Office of Facilities and Campus Planning at 908-737-5000.

For a campus map with designated bus stops visit www.kean.edu/sites/default/files/u7/Additional_Parking_Map.pdf.

In addition to the bus and trolley service provided on campus, the Office of Residential Student Services operates a 20-passenger shuttle for resident students. The service is free, and only a Kean student identification card (ID) is required to board. The resident shuttle offers handicap accessibility with a special lift that accommodates passengers in wheelchairs.

The resident shuttle picks up and drops off at the Wilkins Theatre shuttle stop except for when the University is closed due to inclement weather or during special assignments. The shuttle takes students on trips to local food markets, department stores and train stations.

Each semester an updated operating schedule will be available on the Office of Residential Student Services website at www.kean.edu/rss. For more information about the resident student shuttle, please call 908-737-6800 or email reslife@kean.edu.
