In 2016 Kean University celebrates 10 years since the establishment of its satellite campus housed at Ocean County College.

Created in 2006, Kean Ocean has greatly expanded over its decade of existence. Kean Ocean has increased from 10 to 30 different degree completion programs. There are 7 masters programs, 1 PhD program in Nursing Educational Leadership and online options available through the university to students living in Ocean County.

Currently, Kean Ocean has 1,500 students enrolled at the undergraduate and graduate level.

On Thursday,September 29, 2016, Kean Ocean hosted a 10 years of partnership picnic in the Gateway Atrium and student lounge. The celebration ran from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and was open to Kean Ocean, Union and Ocean Country College students.

"Over 60 Kean Ocean students were in attendance as well as over 100 Ocean County College students," said Christopher Preciose, a Kean Ocean Involvement Specialist.

Students from groups included Criminal Justice Club and Communication Club, as well as a Union campus representative running disabilities services informational tables at the event.

There was a photo booth and a DJ that students attending the event could enjoy.

"The photo booth we hired was very modern and allowed us to add funny cartoons to the pictures such as top hats, celebrities, and thought bubbles," Preciose said. "The DJ was also very easy to work with and was kind enough to announce upcoming events and pick the winning raffle tickets."

Overall, the event was a success. As of now there are no other 10-year celebration events planned for Kean Ocean.
